Alain Hubert

Why he is cool: Alain Hubert is a Belgian environmentalist and co-founder of the International Polar Foundation.  During the winter of 2007-2008 Hubert was in charge of the construction of a new Belgian science station on the South-Pole.  

Cool facts: Hubert has traveled to both the North- and the South-Pole and made five attempts to climb Mount Everest.

He has contributed to scientific research while traveling to the poles and is a leading activist in the fight against global warming in his homeland.
