Le protocole de Kyoto a été adopté par la troisième COP

Le protocole de Kyoto a été adopté par la troisième COP après deux ans de négociations acharnées. L’objectif du protocole consiste à réduire les émissions générales de dioxyde de carbone et d’autres gaz à effet de serre des pays industrialisés d’au moins 5% par rapport aux niveaux de 1990 et ce entre les années 2008 et 2012. Il a été ouvert à la signature du 16 mars 1998 au 15 mars 1999 au Siège des Nations Unies. En 1999, le Protocole avait reçu 84 signatures.
